Bio
George Kevin Jordan is a Washington, D.C.–based journalist reporting on climate, infrastructure, transportation, and how public policy shapes daily life—particularly for Black communities and other historically excluded groups.
He learned the fundamentals of reporting while chasing fires and covering homicides at the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in the early 1990s and has spent more than 25 years reporting and editing stories at the intersection of cities, equity, and public life.
He has served as a Editor-in-Chief of Greater Greater Washington, Managing Editor of SOULE.LGBT, and Editorial Director of Bleu Magazine, and is currently in his fourth year teaching journalism with HumanitiesDC’s Community Journalism Program. He also serves as a Community Connector for The 51st in Washington, D.C.’s Ward 7, grounding his reporting in sustained, place-based conversations with residents about local policy, infrastructure, and quality-of-life issues.
His reporting and commentary have appeared in The 51st, Ebony, The Washington Afro-American, Construction Dive, TheBody, and others. His work often focuses on transit equity, environmental justice, land use, and the human consequences of large-scale infrastructure decisions.
He is also the author of two novels published by Urban Soul/Kensington and has been a fellow at VONA, Kimbilio Fiction, and Tin House.
