Bio
George Kevin Jordan is a DC-based illustrator whose whimsical, vibrant work draws from 80s–90s pop culture, cartoons, and music. Using gouache, watercolor, ink, and digital tools, he brings to life everyday moments and imagined worlds—often centering underrepresented stories—to spark joy (and maybe a smile).
Artist Statement
I’m a multidisciplinary artist working mainly in water-based mediums like gouache, watercolor, and ink. Water isn’t just a tool—it’s a collaborator. Each piece is a negotiation between my intent and the unpredictable nature of the medium. Mistakes become moments of discovery. Every brushstroke is part of a shared adventure.
My work is infused with the energy of pop culture—anime, cartoons, comics, and music that shaped me as a Gen-Xer. Through bold color and playful composition, I explore themes of love, rage, family, masculinity, nature, climate change, and more, often through the lens of a Black gay man. My goal isn’t to offer absolute truths, but to invite reflection, reimagination, and joy.
